Sunyata

First, let me introduce myself and then this company.

I am a woman who wears many masks. Like many people, I am trying to create a more cohesive image of myself and what I have to offer the world. My faith is Buddhism. I try to live my life as close to to my Buddhist teachings as possible. When I started teaching yoga, almost 10 years ago, I occasionally would find myself in conflict with the Yoga Sutra’s teachings concerning the “Self”. As a Buddhist I don’t agree with a God being the end-all-be-all. I agree with the Buddhist concept of Sunyata and in that concept there more beyond “God” or “The Highest Self”.

Buddhist do believe in a “self” but it’s transitory and illusionary. The self does not have one point where it is singular and separate. No matter how far back we go into the idea of a creator or the conscious, it all winds up back at No Thing. Nothing.

Sunyata means Emptiness, Voidness, and the lack of identification. This a very liberating philosophy and it has served me well to integrate yoga into this concept. To have the mindset that you are never in a fixed position in life or death. That everything is in flux and possibilities are endless. That no person or force is the “epitome.”

Sunyata Yoga, LLC aims to create an experience of empowerment and release for the community. A chance to explore the endless abyss of our potential through our bodies and minds. To bring families together in a loving and accepting environment where fear and doubt is left behind and empowerment is everywhere.

peace-

Erica
